Starting as a sprinter on the high school track team, I worked my way into the industry certifying as a group fitness instructor.
Within a short time period, I realized the great rewards and challenges associated with this method of teaching. Because I enjoyed building relationships and motivating others, I continued teaching for two years.
Working with women to realize their fitness goals was the MOST REWARDING job I’d ever had (next to motherhood)! So, it made sense for me to certify through NETA as a personal trainer. Certifying as a bona fide personal trainer afforded me the opportunity to create my own company, FITGirl Training, LLC and assist women on a personal level realize their fitness goals. FITGirl is a mobile personal training service located in the Western suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The service is geared toward busy, slightly introverted women that do not have time to spend in a typical gym setting or feel uncomfortable in such an environment.
As an avid fitness enthusiast, I love the challenge exercise brings to help me feel successful and valid. Let’s face it, as a mother of two and wife, life is messy and it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle of every day struggles when you’re at the mercy of those around you.
Activities I enjoy include running, dancing, kickboxing, yoga, weight training, reading, snuggling and watching Disney movies with my kiddos, baking, paper crafts, and the list goes on and on…
I have been married 13 years and am blessed with two beautiful children ages 10 and 7 years. In 2010, I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Communications with a Written Concentration from St. Catherine University.
